Which gas spring do you need?
Stabilus offers three types of gas springs:
- Lift-o-mat: These are the standard gas springs from Stabilus. They move smoothly up and down but cannot be fixed in one position. These gas springs are used in a wide variety of applications, such as kitchen cabinets, car trunks, and hatches.
- Bloc-o-lift: These are the lockable gas springs from Stabilus. These gas springs can be fixed in any desired position. You will find these gas springs in office chairs, dentist chairs, and hospital beds.
- Hydro-lift: The Hydro-lift gas springs, sometimes called solar gas springs, are for specific applications. They can be held in different positions without locking; when pressure is applied, they slide back in. These gas springs are found in tanning beds, for example.
If your application uses two or more gas springs, we always recommend replacing them simultaneously. With proper installation, the gas springs will wear evenly, resulting in a similar lifespan.

How to find the correct part number?
The part number of your Stabilus gas spring consists of six digits or a combination of four digits and two letters. Each Stabilus reference is unique. If you find your gas spring reference on our webshop, you can be sure it is an exact match.
If you purchased your old gas spring from Hinscha, there might still be a Hinscha sticker present. This sticker may have a reference consisting of 6 digits (X.XX.XXX). You can enter this reference without dots at the top of the search bar to find your exact gas spring.
